Why I Don't Conduct Business Over Text Or Phone Calls

Yes, you read that right. I don't conduct my business through phone calls or text messaging. It probably sounds insane, but I'm going to explain why I made this very intentional decision and how it affects the ENTIRE client experience!

I've had clients who have wanted to do everything over text or have called me to book their session. I of course will take their call and answer their text but I then explain that I don't set things up over phone or text and here's why. They always are very understanding!

So what do I use? Email. I know, it's so archaic. But email is more permanent and it works with my system that I use to give my clients a wonderful experience. I'll elaborate on that.

When a client wants to book me, they first fill out my inquiry form. That gives me a lot of information right up front and it's all collected in one place. I send my clients a welcome email that is full of practical information and tips that they can use for their session. It's things I've curated to set them up for success with their photos! These are PDF files and video clips that don't really work well over texting. I send my contracts over email. I send blog posts and the final gallery - everything is done over email.

Not only is this the best way to communicate information to my clients, this is a more permanent place and record of what we have said. With a phone call, things can be easily forgotten or misremembered. With texts, you have to scroll around to try and find things and they are so much easier to delete :)

It may seem old-fashioned and maybe isn't even your preferred method of communication, but when it comes to a photo session, email is how I'll set you up for success and help you have the best experience you possibly can.
