Here we are in a brand new year. There's a line in the Anne of Green Gables movie where Anne says, "tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it". That's what a new year is. A clean slate with no challenges, pain, or heartache (yet), but also no happiness, joy, and fun (also yet). To some people, it might not seem like this business of mine grew much last year and for another person, they might be right. But for me, I think there was a lot of growth, though much of it was behind the scenes.
I am a person who is held back by fear more often than I'd like to admit. I'm thankful that God is patient and merciful and forgiving because He probably gets pretty frustrated at me delaying and dragging my feet. It's something I'm working on and to that end, I've got some big things in the works that (for me) are rather frightening but have to be done if I'm going to get anywhere with this business. This month I will be meeting with a business coach to see what I'm doing right, what I'm doing wrong, and what I'm not doing at all that I should be doing. I'm going to get my formal accounting system set up and I will be getting things in place to accept online payments. Just about every aspect of the business side of this dream is outside my comfort zone but I've come to the point where I am done dragging my feet about this stuff and I'm going to do it. I do have some fun things planned. I'm going to be meeting with a friend who I have not seen in over a year! I'll be learning how to use Lightroom *nerd alert*. I get to start a new planner and my Give Me Jesus journal (you'll probably be seeing that on Instagram now and again). What are you excited about for this new year? What fun or big things does January hold for you?

Hi! I'm Sarah!
I am a natural light portrait photographer. I've been taking photos since 2014 and would eat a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe for lunch everyday if I could. Thank you so much for stopping by. I blog about sessions, things I'm learning, stuff in my life, and information for YOU, my client. If you like what you see around the site, I'd love to work with you! I'd also love to connect with you on Instagram. I'm @sarah_jayne_photo :) Archives
