I know that there is no law that says things can only be made a certain times of the year, but I practice the same "rule" with my baked goods that I do with my Christmas music and movies - having them only at a certain time keeps them special. There are treats that I only make once or twice a year and that is why they keep their uniqueness and why I get so excited for them! Gingerbread. This a a love-it-or-hate-it treat and I happen to love it. I also like using the royal icing. It's so different than normal icing and it's fun to work with. I don't do anything fancy, just spread the white frosting over the little people cookies. I only make this in December. Want to make some yourself? You can even use the recipe I use to make things simple!
Mallowmelt. This is a recipe from the book series Keeper of the Lost Cities. I usually make this in November, when the latest book is released, but this year we made it with friends earlier, since no book came out. It is the sugariest dessert I've ever eaten and really is too much for more than once a year. You can also make a cookie version, but I prefer the original myself. Whoopie Pies. I tend to make these a couple of times a year, but they are so good that we eat them all so they're dangerous to keep around. One of my favorite variations is chocolate chip cakes with chocolate ganache in the middle. Scrumptious! I use recipes out of this book, but I'm sure you can find recipes on the internet. Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies. These are my fall treat, along with cider doughnuts (but I buy those). They're super simple and so delicious. This is the only cookie dough that I don't prefer to eat raw. Another bonus is that the pumpkin keeps the cookies super soft. Cinnabon copycat cinnamon rolls. My friend Jordan introduced me to Taste of Lizzy T and last year I tried their cinnamon rolls for the first time. That first instance was not the best but I made them again, remembering what I learned, for Christmas Eve and they were AMAZING!!! I'll be making them this year and it may become the new tradition. They are rather involved and so bad for you that they really are only a once, or maybe twice, a year treat. If you love cinnamon rolls, you need to try these. Do you have any treats that are only for special occasions or certain times of the year? I'd love to know what they are!
