I've been thinking for a little while now that it was time for a change. Little did I know how involved changing could be! And that's changing within the same company, though it's a slightly different system. It's been harder than I thought or hoped, but I finally did it and I can't wait to start... ... using my BRAND NEW CAMERA!!!!! That's right, I got a Canon EOS RP; a mirrorless camera!!! I won't bore you with the details of how I arrived at the decision to purchase this over other things but the short of it is, mirrorless is the future of cameras and I want to get in now, while I'm still building my gear collection. I am now the proud owner of:
Transitioning to a new system means you need other new things. I'm very grateful that this system uses SD cards (not the more expensive CF cards) and that Canon made an adapter so that I can use my old lenses. That was nice of them :) I feel like this camera is going to give my business a boost. My old camera had taken me as far as it could and I needed to move on. I'm very excited to start using this and seeing how it affects my work. For now, you'll find me reading the manual and getting acquainted with my new camera!!! Things I Love About My New Camera
There are a few downsides. The battery life is much shorter, ergo, I need more batteries. The manual is in three languages and they decided to only put the basics in, so there is an online PDF with the rest. I don't love that. Then it's just set up a little bit differently. Buttons are in some different places. It's not bad, just that I need to retrain my muscle memory. Overall, I'm really, really happy with it!! I also got another course from Katelyn James to further step up my game and improve my business and overall client experience! I love her courses because they always teach me something and help me become better at my craft!!! (Some of these are iPhone photos so please excuse the quality :) One of the biggest differences is the location of the power switch. My ISO button will be in a different place as well, but probably a custom function button. The info button is not in the same place but that is not a button I use frequently so its location is not a big deal. The thing I notice most is how much cleaner my new camera looks. There is less clutter and I really like that. Maybe it won't be as great functionally but I love how it looks :)
