Saying Goodbye To Summer // August + Summer 2023 Recap

While the weather might still feel like summer into September. in all other ways, summer is now over :( I am thrilled with how this summer went and August was a great way to end it!

August was full and as I look at the photos I am in awe of how blessed I am. Things were kind of crazy this month, with all the stuff that goes into getting a new business up and running, plus regular edits (which I am THRILLED about!), and then all the social stuff we had. But it has been so, so good!

I have to mention something sad. Jim Price, one of the Tigers radio announcers, died this month. He'd been having health struggles for a few years and had not done many broadcasts this year. It is hard to believe we will never hear his humor and banter with Dan again. Baseball games will never be the same.

Personal

• Kenna's birthday brunch was so lovely! She has an amazing network of friends and it was just really cool to see all of us, in different stages of life, all being in community. Kenna has a very special community.
• Luke and Marissa's wedding was wonderful! I still can hardly believe two of my "adopted brothers" are married now but the wedding was beautiful and my favorite part was seeing how much Luke was smiling. He had a genuine smile on his face all day and I loved to see it.
• Paddleboarding was really fun! I'm glad that Jenna went with me for my first time and my arches get a lot of work while I'm balancing but I will definitely go again.
• Read borrowed books. I started one of them. The last one is a thriller and I've not been ready to start that one yet.
• Frankenmuth trip. We did it!

Business

• Get the family business website up and running. It has launched! Things did not go as smoothly as I'd hoped but the customer support people are AMAZING!
• Work on making my new website look the way I want. This did not happen at all. My friend is insanely busy right now and was gone for a week so we'll see when we can get to that.
• "Soft open" for the family business. We did a craft fair!!
• Finish my photo project. The weather is totally against me and one of the locations is closed for construction, so no, this one didn't happen, but I only have one location left! Hopefully I can do it this year but we'll see.

Summer Goals
My summer goals were as follows:

• Go paddleboarding. CHECK!
• Frankenmuth day trip, pt 2. CHECK!
• Lots of quality time with friends. CHECK! Just look at the photos for this month! August was definitely crammed with quality time with friends (old and new) but I did do that the rest of the summer as well.
• Go to a Tigers game. It didn't happen in official summer but I am going in September!
• Drive-in movie. The didn't show one that I wanted to see. *shrugs*

I'm pretty happy with 3/5 (and four are happening this year!) and the last one isn't really in my control. How did you do with your summer bucket list?
