Possibly My Busiest Week Of The Year

It's VBS week at my church. Growing up, we did Groups VBS and I LOVED IT!!! Scatter (I think that was his name?), you know, that squirrel, was the best. I often wonder if  I would like him as much now that I'm older. I had a ton of fun when I was in VBS and I am glad to help provide the same experience for other kids now.

I've been a group leader for years and years. I started when I was 12, even though you're supposed to be 16 to be a leader. I had two very calm, very well-behaved girls who were just a few years younger than me. Because we don't have enough volunteers (ever), I am a leader all by myself most years. Last year, I had nine kids, if they all were there, and I had a helper, and it was still challenging.

This year, we are doing Answers in Genesis VBS - Time Lab - and it's a lot better than what we've done the last few years. I have eight kids, one of whom is my cousin. That's something we do every year. My brothers and I each take one cousin. For the first time in a few years, I don't have the middle cousin. He's finally well-behaved enough to be with one of my brothers :)

I enjoy VBS week. It's exhausting, but fun. The kids love it and it's fun for me to see them enjoying themselves. Music is a huge thing for me. If the music is good, the whole experience is a hundred million times better. Good music makes the whole week more fun.

One of my other favorite things about VBS is seeing all my little friends! I work in the nursery for a moms' group that meets once a month during the school year. When the kids go off to school, I don't really see them anymore, so VBS is fun because, not only do I get to see my nursery kids, but I get to see their older siblings. This year, a girl is coming who's family used to go to my homeschool co-op. I've seen her a few times throughout the years, but I still can't get over how big she is!!
