Whether you're getting new clothes for Easter or trying to put together a photo-ready look from what is already in your closets, don't stress! There a few simple things to keep in mind that will make the process a breeze! Pick Your Outfit First. I'm assuming that you're the one spear-heading this, Mama. And if you're anything like me, you are super particular about how you look. So start with you! Find the dress or shirt and skirt that you like best! If that's a solid color, then you can look at patterns for your family. If you have a gorgeous floral pattern, pick colors that coordinate pulled from your dress.
Colors and Patterns and Styles. If you have a color theme for your home, that is a great place from which to draw inspiration, especially since you'll be displaying these photos in your home! The same goes for style. Your home is a reflection of you, so the colors and style are a representation of who you and your family are. (Example: if your home is very classic, then trendy styles and colors are probably not the best choice.) When it comes to patterns, less is more. Keep the number of patterns to a minimum (more than one pattern rarely works) and limit how many people are wearing that pattern. (Example: if you have young boys, a super cute idea is to have dad in a patterned shirt and then give the boys bowties in the same pattern.) Think Spring. I recommend lighter colors almost any time, but Easter is when we want to focus on the color aspect. Pinks, corals, blues, greens, yellows... Not vibrant and in-your-face, but soft, pastel colors. My family is three guys and two girls. Here's an idea of how we could style the five of us for Easter photos.
For spring and summer photos, khakis are best for guys but if you don't have access to those, navy or black dress pants work too. Just make sure those are the darkest parts of the outfits and the rest is especially light. Want more inspiration and visual examples? Check out my Family Inspiration board! I have a section on Warm Weather clothes and a specific Easter section as well. You might also like: Why Light And Neutral Colors Are Best Coordinating vs. Matching Say Yes To A Dress & Heels
