My Ornament Collection

We have a lot of ornaments in our house. So many, in fact, that we can't put them all on one tree!!! For most of our lives, my brothers and I each got an ornament every Christmas from both sets of grandparents, two aunts, a great-grandmother, and occasionally someone else. We still get three ornaments a year! A lot of times, we are given the same ornament, so we only put one of those out. Add all these to the ornaments our parents have collected over the years and you can see how we don't have room :) I have a few favorite ornaments that I love seeing each year.

For a long time, my Oma got me a Barbie ornament every Christmas. I have Rapunzel, Odette (from Swan Lake), a ballerina, and a model, to name a few. I love my Barbie ornaments and they are super special to me. (I still watch Barbie movies for fun sometimes :) I don't recall why the switch occurred, but one year, she didn't get me a Barbie ornament. I remember being slightly disappointed until she explained the reason for the new ornament.

It was a little kitchen counter with cooking things on it. She told me she picked it out because we baked together a lot. Well, with that special meaning, it suddenly was so precious!!

We don't bake together anymore, since I am big enough to do it myself, but I still have those memories and photos too!
