My Favorite Summer Reads of 2021

Summertime is a great time to read. People take books on their trips and there just seems to be more time for pleasures like reading. I discovered several new books/authors this summer and also started re-reading the Trixie Belden series but there were a few new books that really stood out this summer and I'm going to share those with you. Maybe you'll want to add them to your next summer's reading list!

End of the Spear by Steve Saint. I feel like it's wrong to say I've been fascinated by this story for years because it doesn't seem reverent enough. As much as I've been inspired, I've also had so many questions and this book answers those questions. I finally feel like I know all that can be known here on earth about this amazing story and seeing how it continues to play out is... inspiring. If you don't know anything about Jim Elliot or Nate Saint and the five missionaries who were martyred in Ecuador, then you probably won't be interested in this book. But if you have always wondered and wanted to know more, definitely check this one out.

Right Cross by Andrew Huff. This is book three of the trilogy of John Cross novels. I describe these as Jason Bourne movies in a book but clean :) I don't want to say too much and spoil the series for you, but it's a very satisfying ending! If you like action/spy kind of books, you'll want to pick up this series.

Seven More Men by Eric Metaxas. Biographies are possibly my favorite kind of non-fiction to read. I read Seven Men & Seven Women and discovered some amazing people in those short bios that made me want to learn more about some of them. Metaxas is back with seven more men (surprise, surprise) to inspire you.

The Lost Castle by Kristy Cambron. My first introduction to this author was the book The Paris Dressmaker. The timeline was a little odd but once I got used to it, I was enthralled. I would love to see it become a movie one day. But I loved the beauty of the book so much that I knew I had to read more. The Lost Castle was just as  beautiful as The Paris Dressmaker. And this is coming from someone who generally does not like time-slip novels!!!!
