My #1 Rule For Baby Showers

I'll admit, I haven't been to that many baby showers in my life but I am entering the stage where friends are getting married and starting to have kids and it hasn't taken me long to figure out that there is one thing I MUST do when I get invited to a baby shower.

Most people have a gift registry on at least one site, sometimes more. These are things they need or would like to have for their new little one and it is great to get them something off of that list. However, they are almost without exception gifts for the baby.

That might make sense to you, but I strongly believe that mom needs some love too! Yes, the gifts for the baby benefit mom, I get that. Just imagine though, if you gave her something just for her. Maybe it's a gift card to her favorite coffee shop or a bag of chocolates. Maybe she's a reader and you give her a book you know she'd love or a bath kit to pamper her body after delivery.

If this is a close friend or a family member, you could do a little more and offer to watch the baby while mom and dad go out on a date night or give mom a gift certificate for a manicure/pedicure while you watch the baby. These are slightly more personal and/or expensive so you probably won't do it for just anyone but I think they would be well received by your friend or family member.

There you have it! My #1 rule for baby showers is get something for the mom.

Bonus Tip: I also love to get a book for the baby. If they have some on the registry, perfect! If not, pick one you like to read to kids or (if you have kids) that your kids love. You can write in the cover an inscription and it also doubles as a card!!!
