Mid-Year Book Roundup

I always do a wrap up of my non-fiction books each year but I thought it might be fun to share my favorite books of 2022 so far! Reading is one of my favorite pastimes and I love sharing books with others! We've got some new books that are adding to existing series, new stand-alone novels, and a few re-reads as well, just to round things out!

• The Shattered Castle by Jennifer A. Nielsen. Originally a trilogy, Nielsen is expanding the series and I'm not mad about it. The main character (MC) is one of my all-time favorite characters and the wit/humor/sarcasm, combined with the sheer brilliance, is something I rarely find in books.
• Meet Me In The Margins by Melissa Ferguson. It's fun to read a book about book making. Our MC is an editor but also secretly working on her own book. One of the most fascinating things about this story for me was how it shows how hard it is to have your work critiqued by another. This was a cute book.
• The Italian Ballerina by Kristy M. Cambron. My love for Kristy Cambron books is growing with every book I read by her! Her books are painfully beautiful and this is no exception. I believe poignant is a good word. While very good, this book is hard too.
• As You Wish by Cary Elwes. If you're a Princess Bride fan and you have not read this book, all I have to say is... INCONCEIVABLE! :) But seriously, if you love the movie, you will love this book. And you'll never watch the movie the same way again, but in the very best way. Elwes peels back the curtain on the making of this fantastic film and it's so fun!
  
• The Revolution by Olivia Lynn Jarumusch. The Tales of Tarsurella series is one of my all-time favorites so I'm always thrilled when a new installment comes out. Livy really digs into some deep topics in this latest book and the character development is beautiful.
• A Girl's Guide To The Outback by Jessica Kate. I love reading books where I can really relate to characters because as they work through issues, I can see my own issues in a new way and sometimes find some clarity. This is one of those books for me. Kate also strikes a great balance between digging into her character's heart issues and lightening up the mood with humor.
  
• Full Disclosure by Dee Henderson. This is one of my comfort books and I don't really know why. I've read it three or four times now and I just LOVE IT! I love Ann, I love the relationships in the story, I love how it ties in so many of Henderson's other books. When I finish, I want to start it right back over again (but I don't).
  
• Find Your People by Jennie Allen. I'm in a season where I'm finally considering making new friends and trying to build community again. This book offers practical, helpful advice on building community friendships, which is a different mindset than just making friends.
  
• Shadowed Loyalty by Roseanna M. White. This is another author of whom I am a huge fan. Shadowed Loyalty is a bit of a departure from her usual stories but it was still very good. It explores the tension between loyalty to family and doing what is right. Set in 1920s Chicago, you know this is going to be interesting :)
