LADIES! Use These Posing Tips For Your Next Photos

We women are our own harshest critics, especially when it comes to how we look in photos. You've heard the phrase, "the camera adds 10 pounds", but the truth is, with just a few posing tips, you can avoid that!!!

Did you know that men and women need to pose differently for the camera? It's true! If you stand straight on to the camera, it makes you look wider, which is great for men and their shoulders, but not so great for us ladies, am I right? When we pose, we want to do a couple of things;

1. Stand slightly angled to the camera.
   
2. Pop our front leg.
   
3. Put our hand on our WAIST.
   
4. Twist our torso back towards the camera.
   

All of these things are intended to accent the best things and help us not look bigger than we actually are. Popping our leg shifts our weight back. Putting our hand on our waist, rather than our hip, accentuates our waist, which is typically the smallest part of our torso.

I have personally used these tips and I like my photos much better when I do them! You may not use all four in every photos - obviously it depends on the exact pose - but keep them in mind and mix 'n' match for the occasion! These are the things I keep in mind and use for myself and ALL my clients. It can feel a little strange at first, if you're not used to posing like this, but trust me, it is well worth the adjustment :

And while this is not posing related, know that clothes can also impact how you look! Horizontal stripes make you look wider, while vertical stripes make you look longer. Maxi dresses, ankle length skirts, and high waisted pants all help lengthen you as well. Longer = thinner.

At the end of it all, don't let anything stop you from getting in the photos! You will always judge yourself harder than anyone else. They all think you're beautiful.
