This month has me thinking of One Republic's "I Lived". It was a lovely month filled with fun and good memories! And even though it was so full, it didn't feel rushed or overwhelming, which is so nice. Too often it seems like things are whirlwind busy or slow and easy. I enjoyed having a happy medium this time! Right off the bat, I got to attend my friend's play. She was Beth in Little Women, which is my favorite classic story, and she was a brilliant Beth! Yes, I'm biased but she really was excellent. Before that, I went to visit her older sister, also a friend, and got to hold her new baby boy :) It was a wonderful day with wonderful friends!
Then, my friend and her SIX KIDS came to visit while her husband had an extended job interview and they may be moving back to Michigan!!!! Regardless, we had a lovely time and I got to meet the youngest. I hadn't seen them in almost two years, which is way too long. Hopefully never again :) We had a retirement party for my dad and some friends had their final dance recital the same day. So I went for the first half of the recital, missing the first couple hours of the retirement party, and then came home for the rest. It worked out fine and the girls were so excited that I came. I went early and surprised them so that I would be able to hug them and say hello. At the party, we burned one of our burn piles and it was spectacular! My mom and I went with friends to the Toledo Zoo and saw their baby elephant!!! It's only a few months old and so cute! They also had a mountain lion (GORGEOUS!), twin tiger cubs and twin polar bear cubs that are more like a year old but still very cute, and they had a cool aquarium as well. I enjoy aquariums a lot. Oh, and a beautiful gray wolf! I've been meaning to go to the Peony Gardens in Ann Arbor for years and I finally did it. It was pretty, even though the flowers had been pummeled by a storm the day before I went. I can only imagine how beautiful they are in full bloom. And it was full in less-than-ideal conditions so on a nice day it's got to be PACKED! Finally, I went back and spent a day in Holland and Grand Haven. They are such cute towns and being on the beach is such a peaceful place to me. I got to explore the shops in Holland, got ice cream at Captain Sundae's (the Mackinaw Island Fudge is amazing!), spent an hour editing at a library in Grand Haven, talked to my cousin while enjoying the views, visited The Hare & The Hive and got the perfume I passed up last year :) They sell some Daily Grace Co. devotionals, which I was very excited to see. Then I just spent two hours sitting on the beach. I read and just was quiet and still. It was wonderful! I achieved my May goals! Well, I didn't talk about my Novella sessions so that can be June. But this was a very successful month and I'm pleased with how I lived it. How was your May? What did you accomplish?
