I Found My Dream Home Style

My style and tastes have certainly changed since I've become a photographer but some things have been constant. However, I never really knew what my style was. I once wanted to be an interior designer because then I could decorate houses in all the styles and there are things I appreciate and like about each one. As I got older, it became clear that I liked things that were more classic and had more character than the more modern styles. Still, I didn't have a definite name for what I liked.

A few years ago, I started playing a game called Design Home. (It's super fun!) In the game you get to design and decorate rooms and even whole houses! It was here that my tastes began to crystallize a little bit. I really liked the rooms and challenges that were kind of a coastal or beach theme and I also liked some of the more rustic or farm-style of decor. Kind of eclectic but I didn't care too much. I liked it and started thinking that I would find some way to blend the two themes in my own home one day. Enter Pinterest.

I was talking to a friend who said she had a board of dream house ideas. (And yes, I totally understand how first world this is getting). That sounded like a cool thing to do so I started looking around one day. (Hey, it's quarantine. I have lots of free time!) To my shock, surprise, and utter excitement, I stumbled upon an entirely new (to me) design style - coastal farmhouse!!! Yes, that is a thing. Look it up on Pinterest. I cannot tell you how excited I was/am. What I thought was a weird mish-mash of design is something that is out there and known!

I'm really excited to have my own home one day to style and design and arrange. The big dream would be to build a house, but I'm not really going that big yet because that's not a likely reality. No matter what, I want my home to be warm and welcoming; a place where people can gather and be loved. I have big dreams for what I want my home to be used for and I pray that God will use my home for His kingdom.
