Goodbye, 2023!

I've said it several times this month but 2023 was a good year for me. I pray it was a good year for you, but I know that it won't have been for some. I personally know people for whom 2023 was the worst year of their life. If that is you, I am so sorry and I pray that 2024 will be a better year. As we close out the year, I don't want the month of December to get lost, so we will start with a recap of all the fun from this last month.

Obviously the big highlight is Christmas! There are so many things that go with Christmas but this year I was pleased to not feel like the month just flew by and I was able to enjoy the things I did get to do.

The girls' movie night is happening, but not until tomorrow. And we have most of our photos collected for the family yearbooks we are going to create!

Personal

• Doing childcare at church. I filled in for the mom's group this month, as one of their regular childcare workers had minor surgery. I've missed being around little kids so between that and Advent dinners, I've gotten a good dose of them and it has really filled my heart :)
• Gingerbread with Catherine. It was so much fun to bake with a friend! I don't do it often, mostly because my baking tends to be rather spur of the moment. Catherine is also a friend who I don't get to see very much so spending the afternoon with her (and her adorable little girls) was wonderful.
• Boar's Head Festival. I got invited last minute to go with my friend Jenna and her family to this play at Concordia University. It's a very unique look at Christmas from the perspective of some medieval English traditions. I'm proud of myself for doing a last minute thing (those tend to give my anxiety) and it was a neat experience.
• Got to see my cousin play basketball. He did so well! I try to go to at least one of my cousins' things each season and I made the final game. They lost, but it was a very close game and they only lost by three. He had fun, which is the most important thing.

Business

• My laptop got updated/restored. Unfortunately it did not seem to help Lightroom any. Oh well. At least we tried.
• Worked on getting January's newsletter set up. I'm trying some new things but hopefully it will be sent out the first week of January
