Gender Reveal Ideas

Gender reveals are a hot topic among some and have gotten some bad press for starting fires but for those who love the idea, I want to share what I think are some of the most fun and safe ideas!!!

The set up of a gender reveal generally necessitate someone knowing the gender ahead of time, but there are a ton of fun ways to surprise yourselves and everyone else!!! I've started collecting my favorites on a Pinterest board but am sharing a selection here.

Cakes - Getting a cake that is dyed inside pink or blue is such a cute idea and it ties in a little bit with the cutting of the cake at weddings. Plus, you need dessert anyway.

Poppers - Confetti is always fun, especially if you're outside and they add a bit of excitement and, well, pop, to the announcement.

Paint - If you, the parents, already know the gender and you're revealing it to everyone else, then this is such an adorable thing to do! Mom dresses in a white shirt and then puts pink or blue paint on her hands and puts them on her belly in a "heart" shape. Pull the hands away and the heart hands stays behind!!! There is a visual example on my Pinterest board.

Balloons In A Box - I get a very "UP" vibe from this idea :) You take a large box and put a bouquet of balloons inside that will rise up when the lid is taken off. Simple and sweet.

Pop Paint Balloons - If you want to get a few more people involved, you can do a game of popping balloons with darts. One balloon is filled with colored paint that will reveal the gender of the little one.


Do It At The Shower???
Whatever method you decide, I think that revealing the gender at the baby shower is a super great idea. You're already having a party so everyone is together and then people won't know ahead of time, hopefully minimizing an overload of gender-specific gifts :)
