Human trafficking has been getting much more media attention in the past couple of years and I'm very glad to see it. For too long, it was an evil that flew under the radar. There are many great organizations dedicated to raising awareness and rescuing woman and children, but Kingdom Home is a little bit different from the other groups I know about. Their focus is on prevention. Keeping kids out of human trafficking in the first place. Detroit Tigers starting pitcher, Matthew Boyd, with his wife Ashley, started Kingdom Home. Originally, the Boyds found out about a woman named Dorothy, who was providing care to 36 girls on her own, but she was really struggling. The Boyds stepped in to help her financially and God took their willingness to help and has created something much bigger than them.
Kingdom Home was founded in 2018 and seeks to give at-risk children a safe place to live, learn, and grow. They have grown from one house to three, and from just girls to having a boys' home as well. The Detroit media has written several stories about Kingdom Home and Boyd's teammates have gotten behind the mission, whether it's attending fundraisers or supporting children or writing checks. I love to see the support and the attention that this is getting because, not only is it helping save children, it is unashamedly proclaiming Jesus. The Boyds are strong Christians and Jesus is the heart of their mission for these kids. I could write more, but they say it so well already on their website. I highly encourage you to check it out.
