For as long as I can remember, Easter has been my favorite holiday. Which I now see is kind of ironic, since spring is my least-favorite season. But Easter is definitely the best part of spring!
Things were different as a child than they are now, but through all the years and traditions and things, I’ve always loved this holiday. Probably my favorite thing is the church service. Easter Sunday is my favorite Sunday of the whole year! We have all the instruments and the choir and you can FEEL the joy in the sanctuary. Palm Sunday is my second-favorite Sunday because it is so similar to Easter. I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite traditions around Easter. Some are from my childhood and we don’t do them anymore, but I have very fond memories of them!

A friend asked me an interesting question recently. She asked, "what about how you were raised would you change?" Now, I loved how I was raised so the things I could come up with were more like adding to, rather than actually changing anything. But something I wouldn't change is how we did birthdays!
You know how some years seem like they have a cloud hanging over them? Walking into 2025 felt like that. There are events/dates happening this year that I am not looking forward to. They are going to be hard to get through and I wish I could skip them but I can't. My 2024 word did not go very well and then... God kind of pushed my 2025 word on me and I didn't want it but I know I need it.
I'm going to start by reflecting on my 2024 word and then talk about what I'm focusing on for 2025. I am so ready for a new word and I think my expectations are probably a little too high for this word :) There is a lot of hope wrapped up in this word and I'm very excited.
My "word" for 2023 was "REDEEM & RENEW". You can read all about why I chose it and what I intended to be thinking about with that phrase but, per usual, I ended up being very surprised by what actually happened.
This has been the best year for Sarah Jayne Photography since 2019 and it is all thanks to YOU!!!! Getting to serve so many people with amazing photo experiences this year has been such an honor and I love that I get to serve so many more people through this blog! Thank you for reading and for your continued support. I am so thankful for each and every one of you.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Blessings, Sarah I did something new this year. I made four "goals", which were kind of more like habits that I wanted to build. As the year comes to an end, I wanted to see how I did with those goals.
I like traditions but are not bound to keep the same ones going forever and ever. I have fond memories of traditions that we no longer do and I have some traditions that are my absolute favorite and I am so glad that we still do them. There are some things I don't think I'll ever outgrow :)
I don't know about you but the Christmas season fills up fast and goes by even quicker! I'm still learning how to be intentional during this time of year, but one thing I've learned is that I have to say "no". There are so many good and fun things that we have the option to do but we can't do everything.
For the I-don't-even-know-what-number-year I am keeping a dedicated gratitude list in November. It's things that make me happy, that bless me, or that I am thankful for, big or small. I aim for at least one thing per day but some days I get more.

Hi! I'm Sarah!
I am a natural light portrait photographer. I've been taking photos since 2014 and would eat a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe for lunch everyday if I could. Thank you so much for stopping by. I blog about sessions, things I'm learning, stuff in my life, and information for YOU, my client. If you like what you see around the site, I'd love to work with you! I'd also love to connect with you on Instagram. I'm @sarah_jayne_photo :) Archives
