Brand sessions are so much more than just getting updated headshots, though those are important :) When photographers talk about "brand photos", we are talking about a content library of images to communicate information to your clients and tell a story. But not just any story. We are helping you tell the story of your unique brand. This is why brand photos are more than just you with your computer. We want to tell what you do (and maybe what you want to do) through visual means. Words are important, yes, but they do say a picture is worth a thousand words.
We can definitely do brand photos out in nature, and that might be perfect if it fits your brand, but most brands will better served by a "blank slate" like a studio or some other rental space. These are places that provide us a foundation on which to build but allow us to bring in all the elements that we need to tell your brand's story. Plus, we have more control over lighting and don't have to worry (as much) about weather. If a studio is not the right look for your brand, think about a rental. Some AirBnBs or VRBOs do short term rentals for things just like this. An example might be if your business is a baker or cook or realtor. Having the look of a home really matters for your brand and showcasing what you do. You might be wondering just what it would look like to do a brand session in a studio. Well, I can't give you an exact template because every session is customized, but in a general sense, we'd show up to the studio with a shot list and we'd dive in to some candid or detail shots first. I want to get you comfortable with the process and, if this is our first time working together, with me. More "posed" photos would come later. If we were working with models (like if you're a hairdresser or makeup artist), we would shift around when they were available to come. And I do my best to end our time 30 minutes before our booking end time so we can get things packed back up. I usually allow 30 minutes at the beginning and end of our booked time for set up and clean up, so we would have to keep that in mind when scheduling our time slots. Whether you do your brand session in a studio, rental, or outdoors, the most important thing is to work with a photographer who listens to you and takes the time to learn your brand and your vision. Yes, we have guidance and wisdom to offer you but if we're doing our jobs right, we tailor all of it to what you need. Everything from the props chosen to the shots we take, to the editing... it all is tailored to fit your brand and style. Are you interested in working with me?
