I want to change the format for these recap posts to be more like my quarterly updates. To that end, I am introducing various sections. I'll talk about what I've been loving, share some books, I'll still share updates on my goals for the month and photos from what I've done. With that in mind, please enjoy November's update!

I normally do my portrait sessions outside. But that means we can only do it in good weather. Which, being that I live in Michigan, means usually only May through September. Spring and fall are rainy and cold and winter is, well, winter. So what about sessions that need to happen during those months? Are there any reasons other than weather that might lead you to need a studio session? The answer to that question is YES!
"What has gotten you through your hardest times in life?"
No one likes hard times and if you're anything like me, you don't even like remembering them, but they still happen. Hopefully, we all have things that help us through those seasons when they come. How do you know when you've crossed the line to being an official adult? Is it when you turn 18? What about 21? Or maybe 25 when you can rent a car? While these are all certainly milestones in the adulthood journey, I think it's not a number but a mindset shift. And I've officially crossed it !
Legacy. It's something we crave as humans. It seems like most of history is people wanting to be remembered by the world, but what if we focused on how we are remembered by the people in our lives? Specifically our kids.
It's funny that this question came up as I'm reading a book about trusting. Good timing! Trust is hard to earn and easy to lose, but earning someone's trust is a precious thing.
Each November I challenge myself to find at least one thing to be thankful for each day & WRITE IT DOWN. I have an app and I put stuff in that but I want this written down for posterity. Positivity and gratitude haven't been the easiest for me lately so I think this will be rather challenging this year but that's almost the point. It's easy to give thanks when things are all sunshine and rainbows. It's in the hard days when we really need to give thanks.

Hi! I'm Sarah!
I am a natural light portrait photographer. I've been taking photos since 2014 and would eat a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe for lunch everyday if I could. Thank you so much for stopping by. I blog about sessions, things I'm learning, stuff in my life, and information for YOU, my client. If you like what you see around the site, I'd love to work with you! I'd also love to connect with you on Instagram. I'm @sarah_jayne_photo :) Archives
