I don't even remember telling my mom about this company, but she says that's how she heard about it. It's kind of a weird idea and we haven't used it much, but we've liked what we've tried.

I couldn't find my tennis shoes. I never wear them but they are supposed to be in a certain place and they appear to have wandered off.
I still don't know where they are and I ended up having to wear a pair of my mom's. The surprising thing about that is, we don't wear the same size, but they fit well enough and my feet didn't hurt at the end of the day. That's a miracle! Why did I need my tennis shoes? A friend of mine has a zoo membership. She's been asking me for a while if I wanted to go with her sometime. Last week, we finally went. I have not been to the zoo in years. It's possible that I was single digits the last time I went. I have some vague memories and some things looked familiar, but they've changed a lot. I LOVE old photos. One of my favorite things about graduating was putting together a slideshow and the photo boards. When my granddad died, my friend came over to help me put photo boards together for the visitation and I got to see tons of photos from his childhood that I'd never seen before.
Because I love old photos so much, I might be sharing some here from time to time. Today, I want to talk about baby photos. I was homeschooled my whole life, but I also did a co-op from age nine until graduation. Besides my mom, my two favorite teachers were from my co-op.  I'll confess that I've not really looked into photography quotes much, but I've found several that really say my 'why' well. One of them is by Alfred Eisenstaedt: "It is more important to click with people than to click the shutter." It's the middle of August. Why am I posting about holiday traditions? Well, why not?
I'm going to be sharing some of my favorite traditions from many different holidays, but I'll start by saying that my all-time favorite holiday is Easter. More on why that is later. If you've ever had professional photos taken outdoors, you've probably heard of the phrase "golden hour". Maybe you have a friend or family member who is a photographer and they use terms like this but you have no idea what they're talking about.
I want to help you understand what this magical time is and why photographers love it so much. There are so many places I want to go and things I want to see.

My dad's parents have lived next door to us since I was six. My granddad at some point took over mowing both yards, to free my dad from that chore. Very occasionally my dad would mow or one of my brothers, when they were much older. When my granddad died in 2015, mowing became the boys' job. So I've never been asked to mow, because Granddad or the boys always did it. Please keep that in mind as you read on. I was going to post on Wednesday.
I had something in the morning, but I thought there would be time between that and my afternoon appointment. If not, I had the rest of the day. But things didn't "go according to plan". |
